Week 10

Basking in the morning sun at 9 weeks old

This morning's misty hunt for seeds

I’m afraid the time has come.  Yesterday Snack started to practice crowing.  I say practice because it takes a bit of time and many attempts for their true adult crow to emerge strong and clear.  Encouraged by Snack’s attempts, this morning, Fritz began to practice too.  Snack’s crow isn’t so bad, but Fritz’s is piercing.  I really thought I had more time.  10 weeks seems awefully early to start crowing.

I can’t have male chickens in the city.  I also can’t conceal their sex anymore.  They are rather tiny for processing.  I don’t want to waste gas driving them out to a farm.  What to do?
